Int’l Conference to Discuss ‘Religions and Playing Role in 3rd Millennium’

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Iranian Peace Studies Scientific Association plans to organize an international conference on religions’ role in the third millennium.

Slated for January 18-19, 2023, it will be held in English and Persian with the participation of scholars and thinkers of different religions and schools of thought, according to the president of the association, Mandana Tisheyar.

She said at a recent press conference in Tehran that a number of institutions and organizations, including the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Academy of Sciences, Allameh Tabatabei University and International Quran News Agency (IQNA), have voiced readiness to support the conference.

She said so far top scholars from eight countries have announced readiness to attend the international event, adding that they are from different faiths like Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism.

She also highlighted the activities of the association, saying it was founded in 2015 and has since then made efforts to promote the discourse of peace at the national, regional and international levels.

Also speaking at the press conference was Ali Akbar Salehi, former Iranian foreign minister, who hailed efforts to organize the international conference, saying it shows that the Islamic Republic has roots in history, tradition and its beliefs.
