Iran Int’l Quran Contest: Members of Arbiters Panels Named

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The organizing committee of Iran’s 39th International Holy Quran Competition announced the names of Quran experts who will serve in the contest’s panels of judges.

According to the Quranic Affairs Center of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, Mohammad Javad Rajaei, Nosratollah Hosseini, Saeed Fayaz, Reza Mohammadpour and Mohammad Sadeq Nasrollahi will be members of the panel in the men section.

Two foreign Quran experts, Ahmed Adel Abdilbari from Iraq and Seyed Ahmad Ghaffari from Afghanistan will also serve in the panel.

It will be headed by Seyed Ali Sarabi while Hashem Roghani will be the technical supervisor.

In the women section, Maryam Khatib will be the chairwoman of the panel of judges and Azam Almasi serve as the technical supervisor.

From January 23 to 27, they will assess the contenders’ recorded files taking part in the preliminary stage.

A total of 146 qaris from 80 countries have sent their recorded recitations of the secretariat of the contest.

The finals, which is slated to be held in person, will kick off on February 13, concurrent with the Day of Maba’ath (marking the appointment of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the last messenger of God).

Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization annually organizes the international Quran contest with the participation of Quran activists from various countries.

The 38th edition, was held in March 2022 virtually due to concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.
