Sayed Ahmed Abdul Malik made the remark in an interview with IQNA on the sidelines of the 40th International Conference on Islamic Unity, which was held in Tehran and Mashhad in late August.

He emphasized the need to stick to unity, avoiding differences, and not falling into the enemy’s trap.

IQNA – How do you evaluate the theory of the “Islamic Ummah” and avoiding disrespect for the sanctities of Islamic religions and sects in the thought of the martyred Leader of the Ummah Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei?

Regarding the thoughts of the martyred Leader, it is worth mentioning that he always spoke of preserving unity and called for Islamic unity based on the Holy Quran and its noble verse: “And hold fast to the rope of Allah, all of you, and do not become divided.” He knew that the Americans and other (enemies) were seeking to divide the Ummah so that they could target each one of them. Therefore, in his speeches, policies, and general approach, he acted based on the project of Islamic unity and emphasized unity in order to confront the American and Zionist project that seeks to divide and fragment the Ummah. He called on everyone to stay away from sectarian sensitivities and prejudices, because these things harm Islam and serve the enemies.

IQNA – In your opinion, what is the secret of the victory and progress of Muslims and what is the most important message that the Islamic Unity Week should convey to the Islamic Ummah?

The secret of the victory and progress of the Islamic Ummah is to cling to God and the Quran and rely on commonalities, not on things that divide us. This is what we must work on.

The basic solution is to return to the Holy Quran, Islamic principles and values, and move on the path of Islamic unity and confront the American and Zionist project. Without these pillars, we cannot reach the shore of security. Especially since the enemy is trying day and night to target each and every one of the Islamic countries by dividing them.

IQNA – To what extent will the establishment of a resistance economy and economic cooperation between Islamic countries be effective and efficient in achieving the independence and dignity of the Islamic Ummah?

Today, an essential part of defending and strengthening the domestic front is self-sufficiency. If the Arab and Islamic Ummah unite on their resources and economy, we will be the best countries in the world, with all the wealth and goodness we have. Therefore, everyone must move towards self-sufficiency and at the same time support the economies of Islamic countries around the world.

IQNA – What is the duty of religious scholars, the media, and academics to avoid promoting provocative literature and attacking the sanctities of religions and sects?

Their religious, moral, and human duty is to avoid anything that divides the Ummah and serves the American and Zionist project. They should also encourage people, especially the youth, to act based on the Quranic and Islamic model, emphasize commonalities, and warn the Ummah against any sedition. Today, voices from all sides may disrupt the situation. Therefore, it is up to the scholars to act and fulfill their duty.

IQNA – In your opinion, what are the most important internal and external obstacles that make it difficult to achieve unity and rapprochement between Islamic sects?

Among the factors of division is ignorance; as well as the arrows of the enemies who operate day and night, and their tools inside, namely the presence of elements who work for the American and Zionist project and seek to create sedition and divide the nations. This is what the enemy acts on the basis of, but God willing, with the blessing of religious scholars and the wise leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran, their plans will fail.

IQNA – How can the commonalities between Islamic sects be transformed into a hope for the formation of a solid foundation for the Islamic Ummah?

If the Arab and Islamic Ummah moves on the basis of the verse: “And hold fast to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided,” it will definitely achieve the fulfillment of the verse: “If you help Allah, He will help you.” These factors will lead everyone to the shore of security, especially since we are going through a period of great hardship and suffering in society. Therefore, it is incumbent upon everyone to move as a single body and a solid structure to deny the opportunity to any occupier and aggressor who seeks to divide and fragment us, as well as to take away the opportunity from those who, in a way, pursue the British “divide and rule” policy among our nations. With unity, awareness, insight, and adherence to our Quranic and Islamic principles, God willing, we can thwart all conspiracies.
