Hajiya Sana Abdel Sattar is from the village of Meit Shahala in the Menoufia Governorate. She is a clear example of firm determination and a deep connection with the Quran.

She has managed to recite the entire Quran in one day (one session), a task that lasted from the time of morning prayer until sunset (Maghrib).

Behind this admirable achievement lies a long path that began decades ago, when Hajiya Sana developed a deep attachment to the Holy Quran in her early twenties, and the Holy Quran Radio Station was the window that opened the path to memorizing this divine book for her.

Hajiya Sana says that she began memorizing the Quran at a young age. She started on this path because she constantly listened to Quran Radio.

“It was a divine gift. I memorized it in my early twenties. Listening to Quran Radio instilled in me a love for this divine book and a determination to memorize it.”

She followed the path of memorization while also taking on the responsibilities of a married life and raising children. Hajiya Sana is the mother of three sons: Muhammad (50 years old), Mahmoud (45 years old) and Mustafa (42 years old), who is a pharmacist.

Despite the busyness of the house and raising her children, she always tried to devote time to the Quran and managed to memorize Surah An-Nahl, but this path was interrupted due to her husband’s illness.

Hajiya Sana paused her Quran memorization process during her husband’s six-month illness to care for him. After her husband’s death, she also went through a difficult period that prevented her from continuing her Quran memorization journey.

However, this interruption was not the end of her journey. Eventually, Hajiya Sana returned to the Quran and looked for someone to help her memorize and review it.

Hajiya Sana’s journey goes beyond mere memorization. She participates in review sessions with more than twenty other women of different ages, women who come together to recite and review portions of the Book of God that they have memorized.

Among her companions is a neighbor and a friend who, despite being illiterate, has memorized the Quran. They recite and review verses with seriousness and perseverance; women who are united by their shared love for the Book of God.

One of the highlights of Hajiya Sana’s Quranic journey was her participation in a Quran recitation session; she began reciting from memory after the morning prayer and continued until sunset, thus reviewing and reciting the entire Holy Quran.

“We recited at a reasonable pace, and it took a whole day,” explains Hajiya Sana.

She refuses to attribute her achievement to any personal intelligence or cleverness, saying, “This is neither my cleverness nor my intelligence; it is God’s help.”

In 2024, Hajiya Sana was fortunate enough to perform Hajj, marking another milestone in a journey that has been defined by her enduring love for the Quran and her desire to draw closer to God.
