It is taking place with the participation of poets from several Islamic countries, Al-Kafeel reported.

Also attending are a number of official, religious, academic, cultural and social figures, a selected group of writers, poets and poetry and oratory enthusiasts, the elders of Najaf and a large crowd from different segments of society, both from inside and outside Najaf.

The festival is part of the fifth International Al-Sadiqain Week, marking the birth anniversaries of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and Imam Sadiq (AS).

It has been held under the supervision of Sayyid Isa Al-Khursan, Secretary General of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Ali (AS) holy shrine.

On the first day, the festival witnessed poetry readings by Sayyid Muhannad Jamal Al-Din from Najaf, Iraq; Zia Al-Kilani from Egypt; Nofal Al-Saidi from Morocco; Murtaza Al-Hammami from Najaf; Nasser Al-Ghassani from Oman and Ahmed Al-Fakhri from Libya.

On the second day, there will be poetry recitations by Ahmed Al-Aliwi from Najaf, Sudif Hamada from Lebanon, Hassan Al-Hajj Aqla from Dhi Qar, Zainal Al-Sufi from Mosul, Muhammad Baqir Jaber from Lebanon, Ahmed Kazim Khedir from Basra, Ahmed Goletkin from Kirkuk and Morteza Haidari from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

It is worth noting that the Secretariat of the Astan of Imam Ali (AS) holy shrine has prepared special programs to celebrate the birth anniversaries of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Imam Jafar Sadiq (AS) that include religious, cultural and social events.
