The first Vice-president in a directive asked all the executive bodies not to raise Iran’s national flag at half mast on occasions of national or religious mourning.
According to the government’s information dissemination secretariat, Parviz Davoudi called in the directive on executive bodies not to fly the national flag at half mast “since it would be a disrespect for the holy word ‘Allah’ and the phrase ‘la ilaha illa Allah’ (there is no God but Allah) which appear on the Iranian national flag.

“Instead, a black flag can be raised along with the national flag on mourning occasions,” he said.
