Late Quran Activist Laid to Rest

--A funeral procession was held in Tehran Wednesday morning for the late Quran activist and translator of the holy Quran Mohammad Mehdi Fouladvand.
Lovers of the holy Quran and Quran activist attended the procession, which was held in front of the University of Tehran.

A number of cultural and political figures attended the procession including head of the University Jihad Dr Hamid-Reza Tayyebi, Tehran Mayor Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and members of Tehran Municipal Council as well as managers and personnel of the Iranian Quran News Agency.

During the procession, Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Abdullahian, Quran researcher and editor-in-chief of the Bayyenat Quranic journal, expressed condolences to the family of Dr Fouladvand and the Quranic community of the country and gave a speech praising the late Dr Fouladvand's character and works in Quranic fields.

He said that Fouladvand's translation of the holy Quran into Persian was among the best in the last century.
"After he published his translation, a movement began in the country in the field of Quran translation and Quranic research," Hojat-ol-Islam Abdullahian added.

The body of the late Dr Fouladvand was later carried from Tehran University to Ebn-e Babveih Cemetery and was buried there.

He died on Tuesday at the age of 88.
