Female Quran Activists Honored

--On the sideline of the 28th International Quran Competitions, as many as 25 women were honored yesterday, July 2, by Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization at the International Conference Hall, Tehran.
Attended by Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Ahmad Khatami, member of the Assembly of Experts, the program began with Quran recitation by Hussein Fardi, international Quran reciter.
Ma’soumeh Farzaneh, secretary of the program, presented a report concerning Quranic activities undertaken by the Organization's Department for Women Affairs.
Addressing the program, Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Mohammadi, representative of the Supreme Leader and head of Awqaf Organization said: “Quran inclined children are raised by Quran inclined mothers. we are proud of the pious women of our society who have succeeded in making outstanding achievements in various fields at international level.”
Also speaking at the program, Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Ahmad Khatami said: “one of the achievements of the Islamic revolution is the presence of thousands of male and female Quran memorizers at the national and international levels.”
He stressed the need for more attention to Quran interpretation and said that activities in this field should be comparable with those of recitation and memorization.
“Female Quran experts specializing in the history of Islam should also be trained. Some books about female Hadith narrators have been published, but there is no collection including the names of female Quran experts yet,” he observed.
The interim Friday prayer leader in Tehran noted that Hazrat Zahra (SA) was the first Quran expert adding that: “A genuine expert of the Quran is the one who applies the verses and teachings of the holy Book appropriately.”
Roqayyeh Harati, Tahereh Mohseni, Nafiseh Kabiri, Susan Bani Ali, Azedeh Haji Gholami, Ashraf Basiri, Zahra Azizpuriyan, Seyyedeh Mona Salehi, Ghezbast Ahadpur, Zahra Jahanpur, Dr. Abdulbaghi, Hejazidust, Nankoli, Qaravi, Kalantari, Kashani Wahid, Abbasi Nazari, Moghaddasi, Abdoli, Husseinifar, Jabini, Ja’fari, Khatami, Zahra Ja’fari and Farideh Jalali were the 25 women honored at the end of the program.
