By preparing the colorful copy of the Noble Quran, I have been aiming to make it easier for different people to read and relate to the verses of the Holy Book.
This is according to Muhammet Ali Serin, Turkish Quran researcher and creator of the colorful copy of the Quran.
The copy has been published in Turkey in three languages: the original Arabic along with Turkish and Persian translations.
The text of the Quran has been printed in different colors, each color representing a certain theme, Mr. Serin told IQNA.
“Reading verses 17, 22, 32 and 40 of Surah Al-Qamar (54), I decided to use different colors to categorize different verses of the Quran based on their themes,” he said.
Explaining about the significance of the colors used in the copy he said, “For verses referring to God’s power and His attributes, I chose light blue, having in mind verse 144 of Surah Al- Al-Baqarah, in which Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) turns his face towards the skies: ‘We have certainly seen the turning of your face, [O Muhammad], toward the heaven, and We will surely turn you to a qiblah with which you will be pleased.’ (2:144)”
He added that verses featuring God’s good tidings and advice are in dark green, considering verse 64 of Surah Al-Rahman which says the color of Heaven is dark green.
“Verses featuring Divine warnings are in red, for this color signifies warning. Dark blue has been selected for verses in which there are conversations, and for verses referring to Satan, the selected color is dark red, which symbolizes danger.”
The Turkish Quran researcher added that he used light green for verses regarding prayers and how to develop a relationship with God, “because that is a color which links our soul to God.”
Serin said he traveled to many countries, speaking with their Quranic officials for publishing the copy. “I went through many difficulties for it but I am now very pleased to have gained spiritual peace and serenity for what I have done.”
Coming from the city of Serin, Southern Turkey, Muhammet Ali Serin is a theology graduate from Anatolia University. He studied Arabic in Damascus University and learned Persian via the internet. Serin has been doing Quranic research since 1998.
