Terrorism is the main challenge the revolution of Egypt is facing, an Egyptian woman said. Speaking at a forum in Tehran on “Women’s Role in Egypt’s Revolution”, Awatif Abu Shadi stressed that terrorism seeks to influence the Islamic-popular uprising of Egypt.
She said that the Egyptian uprising has definitely been affected by the Islamic Revolution of Iran while it has taken no western movement as a model.
“We consider the revolution in Egypt as part of the Islamic awakening tide sweeping the region,” she said, highlighting the role of Muslim women in the revolution.
She also pointed to the role of women in the history of Islam and said great women like Hazrat Khadija (SA), Hazrat Zahra (SA) and Hazrat Zeinab (SA) are the best role models for Muslim women.
Shima Ad-Demadash Al-Aghali was another speaker at the forum who noted that people from all groups including women, men, youths and the elderly took part in the Egyptian revolution, because they could no longer stand the oppressive policies of the Hosni Mubarak regime and wanted to be free.
Najla Kamil Al-Qilyubi, another Egyptian women attending the forum, pointed to the attack on Israeli embassy in Cairo and described it as one of the greatest achievements of the Egyptian uprising.
The “Women’s Role in Egypt’s Revolution” was organized by the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization on Tuesday, November 1. A question and answer program followed the forum.
