TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranian Cultural Center in Baghdad gifted some copies of the Holy Quran to the holy shrine of Sheikh Kulayni in Iraq.

According to the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the copies were gifted in a meeting of Hojat-ol-Islam Gholamreza Abadhari, the Iranian cultural attaché in Iraq, with Sheikh Shahab Shuwaili and members of the custodianship of the holy shrine.

The Iranian official noted that the center will spare no efforts to help preserve Shia and Islamic heritage.

Some suggestions were also presented by the Iranian party in the meeting including the production of a documentary on the status of Sheikh Kulayni and his holy shrine by Iranian media, establishment of a cultural center affiliated to the holy shrine which will be named after Sheikh Kulayni, publication of his works, holding an exhibition of his photos, and opening a library near the holy shrine.

Some precious copies of Nahjul Balaqa, Sahifa Sjjadiyya and Mafatih Al-Jinan were also gifted along with the Quran copies to the Iraqi side.

Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Ya'qub ibn Ishaq al-Kulayni al-Razi (c. 250 A.H.) was born in Kulayn, a village or small town situated near Rey, in Iran. He is considered the foremost Shia compiler of hadith and was the author of Kitab al-Kafi.

Kulayni is also known by the title of Thiqat ul-Islam (a narrator of the tradition who is reliable). This title has not been bestowed upon any other Shia scholar. The Shia scholars Shaykh Tusi, Muhammad Baqir Majlisi and Qazi Nurullah Shustari are among those who remembered Kulayni by this name. Kulayni died in 328 A.H. or 329 A.H. (939 or 940 A.D.).
