According to the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), “the role of religion in the society of Iran and Swiss” is the title of this edition of the program to be organized in cooperation with the University of Freiburg.
The symposium will be chaired by Abuzar Ebrahimi Turkaman, chief of ICRO, and will be attended by a number of Muslim and Christian intellectuals.
Hojat-ol-Islam Mahmoud Muhammadi Iraqi, member of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, Imad Afrough, expert in sociology and Hojat-ol-Islam Mohsin Alwiri, member of the scientific board of Baqir Al-Ulum University will be some of the Muslim scholars in the symposium.
The Christian representatives in the program will be Alain de Raemy, auxiliary bishop of Lausanne, Geneva and Freiburg, Charles Morerod, member of the Dominican order and bishop of Lausanne, Geneva and Freiburg, Erwin Tanner, general secretary of the Swiss Bishops' Conference, Francis Piccand, senior analyst in Swiss Foreign Ministry, etc.
“The role of religion in society and restrictions”, “challenge of religion-democracy relation”, “religion and society in the contemporary era, necessities and realities” and “investigation of the brotherhood established by the Holy Prophet (PBUH) between Ansar (helpers) and Muhajirun (migrants)” will be the themes of the program.
The Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) and university of Qom hosted the third edition of the symposium titled “Human Dignity in Islam and Christianity” in January 2011.
