TEHRAN (IQNA) – A scholarly forum was held in Gaza to discuss the various aspects of the character of Ibn Al-Jazari (1350 CE/751 AH – 1429 CE/833 AH), a religious scholar and memorizer of the entire Quran.

According to Ma’an news agency, the Al-Sahaba Faculty of Gaza organized the program in cooperation with Palestine’s Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs and the Dar-ol-Quran and Sunnah Center of Gaza.

It was attended by the members of the Palestinian Scholars Association and a large number of intellectuals, academic figures and university students.

Marwan Abu Ras, former head of the association, stressed the importance of holding such forums and said that these programs can be fruitful if they take into account the needs of today’s world.

Noting that experts in the field of the Qira’at (recitations) of the Quran played influential roles in religious sciences, he said the interpretation of the Quran through Mutawatir (recurrent) Qira’ats of the Quran is very important.

He stressed that scholars and the related institutes should pay specialized attention to this branch of science (interpretation of Quran through the science of Qira’at).

Abu al-Khayr Shams al-Din Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Yusuf al-Jazari was a distinguished and prolific scholar in the field of the Qira’at of the Quran, who memorized the entire Quran at the age of 13.

His works on Tajweed and Qira’at are considered classics. Al-Jazari compiled more than 90 works on Qira’at, Hadith, history and other fields.
