Ebrahim Fallah Tabasom Chehreh competed for Iran in recitation while Mohammad Mahmoudi represented the country in the memorization category.
Tabasom Chehreh told IQNA that winners of top ranks in different categories have been announced, noting that he came third in recitation.
He said Malaysian representative bagged the first prize in this category and Algeria’s contestant came second.
Representatives of Kuwait and Turkey came fourth and fifth, respectively, he added.
Tabasom Chehreh went on to say that Mahmoudi failed to secure a place among the top five in memorization.
The closing ceremony of the contest will be held in Kuwait city on Wednesday morning with Kuwait’s Emir in attendance.
Some 100 contestants from 55 countries, including Iran, Iraq, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Palestine, the UAE, Tunisia, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Tajikistan, Mauritania and Sudan attended the weeklong Quranic event.
