TEHRAN (IQNA) – A senior Iranian cleric called on Muslims to rise up against Takfiri terrorist groups like Daesh (ISIL).

Addressing Friday prayer worshippers in Tehran yesterday, Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani underlined that silence in the face of Takfiris is wrong and that Muslims ought to stand up against them.

In recent years, Takfiri groups like Daesh, al-Nusra Front, Boko Haram and others have been committing heinous crimes against all ethnic and religious groups in countries like Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nigeria and elsewhere.

Their ideological origins can be traced back to Wahhabism, which is the official creed in Saudi Arabia.

Elsewhere, Ayatollah Emami Kashani warned against the plots of the world arrogance, including the US, especially their attempts aimed at inciting Islamophobia and Iranophobia in the world.

He urged an awakening in the Islamic world and said Muslim unity and solidarity are needed against such schemes.

Earlier this month, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei also slammed the US government for its continued hostilities toward Muslims and the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying that Washington is seeking to tarnish the image of Islam, and spread Islamophobia and Iranophobia.
