Quran Competition for Women Underway in Karbala

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The first edition of a Quran competition for groups of women has been organized in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq.

According to the Dar-ol-Quran Center of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine, the Women Media Section of the holy shrine’s Astan (custodianship) has organized the competition.

The Dar-ol-Quran Center has also cooperated with the section in holding the Quranic event.

Dissemination of the Quranic culture among women and developing cooperation among Quranic centers affiliated to the holy sites in Iraq and active Quranic institutes are the objectives of the competition.

50 representatives of 10 Quranic centers from the holy cities of Karbala, Kazimayn and Najaf as well as some Quranic institutes of Babil Province and Ain Al-Tamur and Al-Hindiya districts of Karbala Province have participated in the competition.

Sayyed Al-Awsiya Hall of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine in Karbala is hosting the competition.

It is supervised by Ala A’jam, Intisar Fadhil, and Nur-ol-Huda Hassan, respectively experts in Tajweed principles, Sowt and Lahn and Quran memorization.

Fatima Al-Mansouri from the Dar-ol-Quran Center and Neda Al-Jalihawi from the Media Section are also members of the competition’s board of judges.

Three top groups of participants will be awarded at the closing ceremony of the competition on Eid Al-Fitr.

Last month, the holy shrine of Hazrat Abbas (AS) in Karbala hosted the second edition of a Quran competition for groups of men which concluded on June 20 and the team from Baghdad won the top prize.
