TEHRAN (IQNA) – As Muslims all over the world continue to mark the Eid celebrations, a Kenyan university student has come up with good news to members of the Luo community who profess the Islamic faith but are not conversant with the Arabic language.

The student, Omar Al Bashir, who is studying in Egypt, has translated the entire Quran from Arabic to Luo, the first ever in East and Central Africa.
The translation has already been approved and certified by the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims, the Mediamax website reported.
The Luo dialect is the eponymous dialect of the Luo group of Nilotic languages.
It is spoken by about 6 million Luo people of Kenya and Tanzania who occupy parts of the eastern shore of Lake Victoria and areas to the south.
