TEHRAN (IQNA) – The February 14 Youth Coalition in Bahrain has called on all people in the Persian Gulf country to attend demonstrations slated to be held on Friday.

Rallies Planned in Bahrain Friday

The rallies, named "Friday of Sacrifice 3”, will be staged in cities, towns and villages across Bahrain tomorrow.

They are aimed at protesting against the Al Khalifa regime’s oppression and showing solidarity with those participating in a sit-in outside the residence of prominent Shia leader Sheikh Issa Qassem in the northwestern village of Diraz.

The February 14 Youth Coalition in a statement said a nation that has risen up for its rights and is on the path to victory will not retreat from its objectives and will continue on the path.

It urged people from all walks of life to take part in the Friday rallies.

Sheikh Qassem’s planned trial was adjourned until August 14 after the prominent figure did not appear in court on Wednesday.

The Al Khalifa regime announced on June 20 that the citizenship of Sheikh Qassem has been revoked, accusing him of sowing sectarian divisions.

Bahrain, a close ally of the US in the Persian Gulf region, has been witnessing almost daily protests against the ruling Al Khalifa dynasty since early 2011, with Manama using heavy-handed measures in an attempt to crush the demonstrations.

Scores of Bahrainis have been killed and hundreds of others injured and arrested in the ongoing crackdown on the peaceful demonstrations.

Amnesty International and many other international rights organizations have frequently censured the Bahraini regime for the rampant human rights abuses against opposition groups and anti-regime protesters.
