TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quran memorization competition was held in Islamabad, Pakistan, with the participation of 2400 male and female memorizers of the Quran.

According to the Holy Quran Memorization International Organization (HQMI), the organization held the contest in cooperation with the representative office of the Muslim World League in Pakistan.

The participants competed in six categories including memorization of the entire Quran and recitation in ten different styles, memorization of Quran and "Riyadh Al-Salihin” (a collection of Nabawi Hadiths), memorization of the Quran along with the "Introduction of Ibn Jazari”, Quran memorization along with interpretation of Quranic terms, Quran memorization with the number of Surahs, verses, and pages of Quran and Quran memorization for children.

The winners were awarded in a ceremony with the participation of Muhammad Yusuf, Pakistani minister of religious affairs, ambassadors of some Arab countries, representative of the HQMI , members of the competition’s jury panel, a number of Quran activists and Quran teachers and students.

The International Islamic University of Islamabad hosted the ceremony.

"Al-Muqaddamah Al-Jazariyyah” (introduction of Ibn Al-Jazari 751-833 A.H.) is a poetic work on Tajweed principles, Waqf, Ibtida and Quranic script.

It includes 107 verses and is a part of the schedule at Quran teaching centers in many Arab and Muslim countries.
