TEHRAN (IQNA) – More than 1400 schools across Iran now have Dar-ol-Quran centers to promote Quranic activities, an official said.

Hamid Reza Kaffash, the Education Ministry’s cultural deputy, said that in recent years, 600 Dar-ol-Quran centers have been revived in schools in different parts of the country and now ones have been set up to raise the number to over 1400.

He made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the first Quran, Etrat and prayers Competition of the Education Ministry staff in Mashhad.

Kaffash referred to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei’s instructions on the need for reviving Quranic activities and said very good steps have been taken in this regard.

He also said the international Quran competition for school students, which has not been held in the past few years will be organized again early next year with the participation of representatives of 70 countries, ISNA reported.

According to the official, the competition will be held in the Iranian capital of Tehran in February.

The first Quran, Etrat and prayers Competition of the Education Ministry staff was held in Mashhad earlier this week with the participation of 250 individuals from 31 provinces of the country.
