TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 7th edition of the Quran and Hadith Competition of Iran’s Islamic seminaries concluded in the central city of Kashan on Saturday.

The holy shrine of Soltan Ali ibn Muhammad Baqer (AS) hosted the competition on November 3-5.

Some 7000 seminary students had taken part in the preliminary stage of the contest, held in the categories of Quran memorization, recitation, Tafsir (interpretation), and Hadith, among others.

83 made it to the final stage and competed for the top prizes in Kashan, IRNA reported.

Winners of the contest in different categories were awarded at the closing ceremony on Saturday evening.

Addressing the ceremony, Hojat-ol-Islam Mehdi Rostamnejad, educational deputy of the Islamic Seminaries, said the contest was organized with the aim of promoting Quranic activities among the seminarians.

He added that the focus of the event was on the content and Tafsir of the Quran.
