We need to learn and understand Holy Quran in true sense for success in the world and hereafter.
This was stated by Pakistani Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Muhammad Balighur Rehman while attending the ‘Quiz Program on Fahmul Quran’ as the chief guest at the Islamabad Model College for Girls in F-7/4 on Thursday.
The minister congratulated Principal of IMCG Korang Town Ms Amina and her team for arranging such a competition at college. He said learning had been given an utmost importance in Islam.
"The first word the Almighty Allah taught in the Holy Quran is Iqra which means to read. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said it’s obligatory for every man and woman to acquire education and so we need to learn and understand Holy Quran in true sense because in Holy Quran we would find success in this world and hereafter,” he said.
The minister said the inclusion of Quranic teachings in curriculum had been approved by the cabinet.
"Nazra Quran will be taught from class 1 to class 5th and the translation of the Holy Quran from class 6th to class 12th. Students will be taught first about the incidents mentioned in the Holy Quran and then about the orders mentioned in the Holy Quran. We all need to make an effort to improve our curriculum for the betterment,” he said.
He said his ministry had been working on national minimum curriculum but it’s not a one-man show.
"It’s our collective responsibility to learn and understand in better ways. Students, teachers, parents, academicians, policymakers and government officials, we all have to work in coherence with each other for better outcomes,” he said.
The minister later congratulated the participants of the quiz program and urged students to study with full devotion and dedication. He distributed prizes among the winners of the competition.
