Jordanian Contestant: Level of Int’l Competition for Visually-Impaired High

The competition for the visually-impaired is one of the international Quranic events underway in Iran this week.

The other four are the International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and those for women, school students and seminary students.

Yahya Muhammad Saeed, who is from Jordan, said he listened to very good and high-quality recitations at the competition for the visually-impaired.

He described the contest as a venue for enhancing Muslim unity and hailed the motto of the event, which is "One Book, One Ummah (nation)”, stressing that Islamic unity is needed today more than ever.

Muhammad Saeed further referred to his Quranic activities, saying he started learning the Quran at the age of ten.

At 17, he received a permission from top Quran experts in his country for teaching the Quran.

He said he has taken part in many Quran competitions in Jordan and has won titles but it is his first presence in an international Quranic event.

Hailing from the capital city of Amman, Muhammad Saeed was selected to represent the Arab country in the international contest by Jordan’s Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Ministry.
