The center, located in the European part of the city, provides Quran teachings for the blind 24/7 according to Anadolu Agency.

Those attending the courses at the center learn the braille alphabet and then learn reading the Quran.

Sinan Tunich, one of the teachers at the center, says it has been providing special courses for the blind since three years ago.

He says a number of those taking the courses have managed to learn the entire Quran by heart.

What matters more, though, he says, is that some of them are now capable of teaching the Quran to other visually-impaired individuals.

Braille is a writing system which enables the blind and partially-sighted people to read and write through touch.

It was invented by Louis Braille (1809-1852), who was blind and became a teacher of the blind.

In recent years, the Holy Quran and religious books have been printed in Braille to help the visually-impaired Muslims read the texts with ease.
