Student Quran Contest Underway in Oman

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A national Quran competition for school students started in Oman on Friday.

 

As many as 414 students are taking part in the competition in two separate sections for boys and girls, according to al-Watan daily.

The city of Izki, northeast of the Arab country, is hosting the national Quranic event.

It is being held in five categories of Quran memorization for school students studying at different levels.

Abdullaj bin Hamad Azari, head of the organizing committee expected a good competition given the presence of students from all over the country.

Winners of the top three ranks in the five categories will be awarded in a ceremony slated for April 15.

Oman is an Arab country on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia. Virtually all Omanis are Muslims.
