Cairo Seminar Discusses Women’s Rights in Quran

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A seminar was held on the sidelines of the 5th international book fair in Cairo, Egypt, on Muslim women’s roles in society.

 

The seminar, titled “Role of Al-Azhar Women in Education and Serving the Society” also discussed the rights of women in the Quran.

According to masrawy website, Abdul Munim Fuad, a scholar of Al-Azhar Islamic University, was among the speakers.

He said the existence of a Surah (chapter) in the Quran named al-Nisa (women) shows the importance the Quran attaches to women and their role in society.

He underlined that the Quran pays attention to all aspects of women’s life so that their rights are fully observed.

Nahla Saeedi, an official with Cairo University, also addressed the participants, highlighting the presence of Muslim women in social arenas and their role in promoting Islam.

The 5th edition of Cairo international book fair opened in the Egyptian capital on Wednesday and will run until Monday, February 4.
