This was announced by head of the organizing committee, Ibrahim Bu Melha, speaking at a press conference on Thursday.
He added that the number of participating countries is expected to reach 100.
Bu Melha said unlike in previous years that the contest began on the second week of the holy month of Ramadan, this year’s event will get underway on the second day of Ramadan and run for 12 days.
Referring to the panel of judges, he said it will include Quran experts from the UAE as well as countries like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Libya and Burkina Faso.
He went on to say that the name of the Quranic personality of the year, one of the categories of the Dubai Quran Award, will be announced in the coming days and the person will be honored in the closing ceremony on the 14th day of Ramadan.
