Quran Copy Attributed to Imam Ali (AS) on Display in Mashhad

TEHRAN (IQNA) – An old manuscript copy of the Holy Quran attributed to Imam Ali (AS) has been put on display in Mashhad, northeast Iran.

 

The Quran and Exquisite data-x-Items Museum of the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) has exhibited the manuscript.

According to Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Jalal Hosseini, head of the Libraries, Museums and Archives Center of the Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine, it is one of the oldest copies of the Quran in the world.

He said the Kufic script Quran that dates back to the first Hijri century was gifted to the Astan by the Safavid ruler Shah Abbas I.

He added that the pages of the 20 by 25 by 26 centimeter manuscript are made of deer skin, IRNA reported.

It contains all Surahs of the Holy Book, he went on to say.
