TEHRAN (IQNA) – Officials of Yemen’s Department of Archeology and Museums, Taiz branch, said 5 rare manuscript copies of the Quran have been returned to Taiz Museum.

They said the manuscripts date back to eight centuries ago, al-Ittihad news website reported.

According to the officials, one of the manuscripts has been written with Saffron ink and the other four are in Hebrew script.

They said the copies belong to the museum and had been registered at the museum before.

The manuscripts were stolen six years ago when the Taiz Museum was attacked and destroyed in the Saudi-led war on Yemen.

The museum has bought them at an auction organized via Facebook, according to the report.
