Member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts Visits Islamic Studies Center in Istanbul

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Ayatollah Ahmad Mobaleghi, a member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts, paid a visit to the Center of Islamic Studies (ISAM) during his trip to Istanbul, Turkey.

During the visit, Ayatollah Mobaleghi called for efforts to develop and deepen efforts in the Muslim world to discover Quranic concepts.

He said the best way to develop bonds between the youth and the religion is paying attention to Quranic concepts.  

He added that developing and deepening the method of inference from the Quran is necessary in order for understanding Quranic concepts related to the contemporary issues and needs.

So this should be put on the agenda in research works, the senior cleric went on to say.

Yasar Culac, the president of the center, for his part, said it attaches importance to Quranic studies and has made a lot of efforts in this field.

He said the center plans to develop studies in the field of Quranic sciences and is interested in working in the area of Quranic methodology.

He also noted that ISAM has published a major encyclopedia in the field of Islamic concepts.

During the visit, the two sides highlighted the need for holding sessions to discuss development of Quran interpretation methodology.

The center was founded by the Directorate General of Turkey's Diyanet Foundation Encyclopedia of Islam in 1983 and came into operation in the same building with the ISAM Library. Both corporations were combined in 1993. ISAM has published 40 volumes of the Encyclopedia of Islam so far.
