The major event is set to take place on September 23-24 as its organizer Waleed Jahangir expressed excitement about returning to the iconic venue.

“We’re thrilled to return to the iconic London Stadium, right in the heart of the community, for the world’s biggest halal food event of the year,” said Waleed Jahangir, Managing Director at Algebra Festivals, British Muslim Magazine reported.

“The World Halal Food Festival is an opportunity for members of all communities to come together and experience the flavors of the world under one roof with family and friends.”

The festival, formerly known as the London Halal Food Festival, has been held for eight years and will feature 200 halal food and shopping stalls.

London Stadium CEO Graham Gilmore welcomed the festival back for its third year. “We are delighted to welcome back this incredible food festival for its third year at London Stadium!” he said.

“Our venue is an ideal fit for this event, which brings together the food, music, and culture of the Muslim community for all to enjoy in the heart of East London.”

Partners for the festival include the London Metropolitan Police, the British Islamic Trade Association, Tariq Halal Meats, and the British Muslim Magazine.

The London Halal Food Festival typically draws a large crowd of food enthusiasts every September.

What is meant by Halal food?

Halal food refers to food that adheres to the dietary guidelines set out in the Quran and the Hadith, which are the religious texts of Islam. It has two key requirements. Firstly, the food must come from a lawful and permissible source. This means that certain items, such as pork, blood, alcohol, and animals that died naturally or were not slaughtered correctly, are forbidden for Muslims. Secondly, the process of preparing, processing, and storing the food must be carried out in a clean and contaminant-free manner. For instance, the equipment used to slaughter animals must be clean and sharp, and the animals must be killed swiftly and in a specific manner.

Halal food is not only a religious obligation for Muslims, but it also ensures the hygiene, quality, and safety of the food. Additionally, it has environmental, animal welfare, and health benefits.
