Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Hojat-ol-Islam Ahmad Sharafkhani said the organization undertook in 2012 to train one million memorizers of the Quran in a four-year period and has managed to achieve that objective.
He said over a million people across the country took part in the organization’s plan for training memorizers of the Quran.
According to the official, the capacities of mosques, religious centers, holy sites and Quran institutes were tapped to implement the nationwide Quranic plan.
Hojat-ol-Islam Sharafkhani added that the cyberspace was also used in the plan to train Quran memorizers.
He said one of the main requirements for training so many Quran memorizers was having enough qualified Quran teachers.
For that reason, he said, the organization established the Center for Training Quran Memorization Teachers and so far 7,000 Quran teachers have graduated from the center after completing the preliminary and complementary courses and passing the examinations.
