According to KUNA news agency, the competition is being hosted by the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.
40 Quran reciters and memorizers representing the six countries of the council are taking part in the competition.

He added that the younger generation is qualified to disseminate the message of Quran and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Muhammad bin Said Almunawari, the head of the organizing committee of the competition, also addressed the ceremony, saying that three age groups of Quran activists, 21 to 25, 16 to 20 and 11 to 16 years old, are attending the competition.
He added that the Quranic event, which will continue until March 3, has been planned in line with the activities of the secretariat of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council.
