Egyptian Man Is Oldest Quran Calligrapher in Arab World

Egyptian Mahmoud Ibrahim Salama is the oldest Quran calligrapher in the Arab world.

He has so far caligraphed the Quran in Naskh and Sols scripts six times, al-Ahram daily wrote.
He learned calligraphy skills with a number of prominent Egyptian calligraphers like Sayyid Ibrahim, Ali Badawi, Mustafa Qazlan and Muhammad Hassani.
Aged 95, Salama is currently working on the calligraphy of another copy of the Quran in Sols.
For the past fourteen centuries, Muslim artists from all over the world have written the Quranic verses in various beautiful calligraphic forms such as Naskh, Sols and Kufi.
In fact, the Holy Quran has played an important role in the development and evolution of Islamic calligraphy.
