Producing movies with theme of Ashura promotes the Shia culture and thought, a cinema and TV filmmaker told IQNA.
Farajollah Salahshour said investment in movies about the event of Ashura would certainly worth it as portraying the life of the characters of Karbala will present role models not only for Iranian viewers and Muslims from other countries but also for followers of other faiths.
On the day of Ashura in the year 61 after Hijra (680 A.D.), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) along with members of his family and his faithful companions were martyred in the Battle of Karbala.
Salahshour underlined that a movie can be made about the character of each of the martyrs of Karbala.
He said, however, that not everyone can make such a movie but those who seek to embark on making a movie on Ahsura, or a religious movie in general, should be a religious an devoted person.
The director of the movie Prophet Joseph (AS) also said that in order to make successful movies about Karbaal and Ashura, there should be professional work and international standard should be met in order to attract global viewers.
