6th Int’l Quran Recitation Festival Begins in Iraq

TEHRAN (IQNA) - The sixth edition of an international festival of Quran recitation in Sulaymaniyah Province of Iraq began on January 20.

 According to al-sumaria news, the festival has been organized to foster the Quranic culture in society and get the people more acquainted with the Divine Book.

Top Quran reciters from Egypt, Bangladesh, Kuwait and Iraq are taking part in this edition of the festival.
Organized by Alshabab Quranic Center, the festival includes research workshops, Tajweed and Quran memorization competitions and Quranic forums planned in cooperation with a number of cultural institutes, researchers and academic figures.
Kujar Umar Ali, an organizer of the festival, said that compared to the previous editions, this year’s program has been held at a higher level.
, Mahdi Mahmoud, member of the Province’s Council, highlighted the spiritual aspect of the event and its role in promotion of Quran recitation.
Participants in the festival stressed the key role of religious scholars in disseminating moderation, uprooting religious extremism and preventing the youth from falling into the trap of Takfiri groups.
