TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Blue Mosque in Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan, was built by sultan Ahmed Sanjar, a Seljuq king.
It was destroyed during the
invasion of Genghis Khan around 1220. In the 15th century Sultan Husayn Mirza
Bayqarah rebuilt the mosque. It is by far the most important landmark in
Mazar-i-Sharif.
