Tehran Arbaeen March

TEHRAN (IQNA) – More than 2 million Iranians took part in the annual Arbaeen march in Karbala, Iraq, and those in Tehran who couldn’t make the trip to the neighboring country instead marched toward the mausoleum of Hazrat Abdul Azim Hassani (AS) south of the city to mark Arbaeen.

Each year, a huge crowd of Shias march toward Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites marking Arbaeen, which is the 40th day after Ashura, the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his faithful companions in the 680AD Battle of Karbala.
