TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 6th Arbaeen International Award concluded in a ceremony held in Tehran on Monday where winners in different categories were announced and awarded.

A number of top officials attended the ceremony, held at the headquarters of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization.

They included Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister Seyed Abbas Salehi, Head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization Abouzar Ebrahimi Torkaman, President of University of Religions and Denominations Hojat-ol-Islam Abolhassan Navab and Head of the Archives and National Library of Iran Ashraf Boroujerdi.

ICRO has organized the Arabeen Award since 2014 with the aim of reflecting the manifestations of this international religious event to the world.

Arbaeen, which is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (AS).

Each year, a huge crowd of Shias flock to the Iraqi city of Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites.
