TEHRAN (IQNA) – Like Muslims elsewhere in the country and around the world, people in Tehran have been holding ceremonies to celebrate the anniversary of the birthday of the twelfth and last Shia Imam, Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his glad advent).

This year, Mid-Sha’aban, the fifteenth day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar that marks the joyous occasion, falls on Monday, March 29.

In Iran, people decorate and light up streets and gather inside mosques and other religious sites nationwide to celebrate the auspicious occasion.
