TEHRAN (IQNA) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said that the Takleef celebration is a real Eid for girls as they start to accept responsibilities since then.

Dozens of girls attended a Takleef ceremony on Friday in Tehran's Imam Khomeini Hussainiyah.

The event celebrates the time when a Muslim youth reaches the age of observing religious obligations and responsibilities.

The Leader led the Maghrib and Isha prayers before briefly addressing the participants.

“My dear daughters and young flowers! The Taklif Celebration is a true celebration and Eid, because from the moment that you reach the age of being required to carry out your religious obligations, you are also in a position where God will talk with you and entrust you with responsibilities. This rank of ‘being addressed by God’ is a very valuable rank in human beings.”

The Leader told the girls that they could "be influential" in family, school, and among friends and guide others to the "right path".

He hailed the role that women have played in the progress of the country in history, adding, "Today, there are a lot of prominent and committed women in the scientific, practical and jihad  (great efforts) sectors, who are a source of pride for the country, more than in the past."

"You too try to become one of the great influential women of your beloved country in the future by studying and reading books and working and thinking," he said.

"You can play a role in this huge struggle that the Iranian nation launched since the [1979] Revolution against oppression, misery, and discrimination, as many women played a role before, and today people are aware of their great efforts," Ayatollah Khamenei added.
