The ritual was performed with in intense summer heat and could potentially break records in terms of number of pilgrims.

As the sun rose, groups of worshippers recited verses from the Quran on the rocky rise, where Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) gave his final sermon.

This annual pilgrimage is considered the most significant ritual, and after three years of Covid restrictions, officials anticipate it to be the biggest on record.

The Hajj attracts over 2.5 million pilgrims, making it one of the most extensive religious gatherings globally.

The temperature soared to 46 degrees Celsius (113 Fahrenheit) on Monday, and robed worshippers huddled under umbrellas as they journeyed from Mecca to Mina, where they slept in a large tented city before the rites at Mount Arafat.
