Great Mosque of Kufa Hosts Arbaeen Pilgrims

IQNA – Every day, tens of thousands of Arbaeen pilgrims pay visit to the Great Mosque of Kufa, located near Najaf.

 

The Great Mosque of Kufa, located about 12 kilometers north of Najaf, Iraq, is one of the most significant mosques in the Islamic world.

For Shia Muslims, it is considered the fourth most important mosque after Masjid al-Haram, Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, and Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The mosque, believed to have been originally built by Prophet Adam (AS), has a rich history and has been visited by numerous prophets and saints, including Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Imam Ali (AS), Imam Hassan (AS), and Imam Hussein (AS).

It also contains the tombs of prominent figures such as Muslim ibn Aqeel, Hani ibn Urwa, and Al-Mukhtar, and is surrounded by historic sites, including Imam Ali's (AS) house.
