Mohamed Abdel Rahim El-Bayoumi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, stated that the initiative focuses on researching and rediscovering the lost Quranic and audio heritage of Sheikh El-Minshawi. “This effort serves as a bridge connecting the glorious past of Sheikh El-Minshawi with the present,” he explained. “Specialized teams will work diligently to achieve results worthy of his remarkable legacy.”
The project is a collaborative effort involving the ministry, the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, and El-Minshawi’s family.
Sheikh El-Minshawi’s daughter expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Awqaf and the council for undertaking the project.

The Ministry of Awqaf recently commemorated Sheikh El-Minshawi’s birth anniversary on its official social media platforms. The ministry shared details of his life story and highlighted excerpts from his profound and emotional Quranic recitations.
In a statement, the ministry noted, “Sheikh Mohamed Siddiq El-Minshawi left behind an immortal legacy in the art of Quran recitation. His humility and melodious voice conveyed the profound meanings of the Quran to the hearts of listeners and continue to inspire generations.”

Born on January 20, 1920, in the town of Minshat in Sohag Governorate, Egypt, Sheikh El-Minshawi grew up in a devout and scholarly family. By the age of eight, he had memorized the entire Quran.
Over the course of his career, he performed numerous recitations both within Egypt and abroad, including at sacred sites such as Al-Masjid Al-Haram, Al-Masjid An-Nabawi, and Al-Aqsa Mosque before its occupation.
Sheikh El-Minshawi also traveled extensively to countries such as Kuwait, Syria, Libya, and Indonesia, where he received numerous honors and accolades for his contributions to Quranic recitation.
