Jammu and Kashmir 4 Months after Revocation of Special Status

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Nearly four months ago, the government of India revoked the special status, or limited autonomy, granted under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution to Jammu and Kashmir.

In the lead-up to the move, New Delhi sent thousands of additional troops to the disputed region, imposed a crippling curfew, shut down telecommunications and internet, and arrested many Muslim leaders of Kashmir.

The move worsened the already-heightened tensions with neighboring Pakistan, which downgraded its diplomatic relations with India.
