Iraqi Qari Recites Quran on Anniversary of PMU Establishment (+Video)
TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iraqi Qari Yassir al-Alaq recently recited verses from the Quran at a program held to mark the anniversary of the establishment of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU).
He recited verses from Surah al-Tawbah in this program, held in late June.
The PMU was formed shortly after the emergence of Daesh in Iraq in 2014.
In November 2016, the Iraqi parliament voted to integrate the PMU into the military.
PMU fighters have played a major role in the liberation of areas held by Daesh terrorists ever since the Takfiri group launched an offensive in the country, overrunning vast swathes in lightning attacks.
