Mourning Rituals Held in Shiraz  

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A mourning ceremony was held at Shah Cheragh Mausoleum in the southern Iranian city of Shiraz ahead of the sad occasions in the lunar Hijri month of Safar.

Safar is the second month of the lunar based Islamic calendar. The 20th day of Safar marks Arbaeen that comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Shia Imam.

The sad demise of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and martyrdom of his elder grandson, Imam Hassan Mujtaba (AS) are marked on the 28th of the month. And on Safar 30 Shia Muslims mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Reza (AS), the 8th Shia Imam.
