Beauty of Ilkhanid-Era Architecture at Grand Mosque of Varamin

IQNA – The Grand Mosque of Varamin, also known as the Jameh Mosque of Varamin, dates back to the Ilkhanid era.

Located in the city of Varamin, near the Iranian capital of Tehran, the mosque is a good example of the Ilkhanid-era architecture and is among the mosques that have four Iwans (An iwan is a rectangular hall or space, usually vaulted, walled on three sides, with one end entirely open).

It was built in the 8th century Hijri (14th century AD) by the order of Izz al-Din al-Quhadh, the Vazier (minister) of Ilkhanid ruler Sultan mohammad khodabandeh.
