Adhering to the truth is the first message of the Ashura movement and the Karbala uprising, a religious scholar said.

Speaking to IQNA, Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Qassem Razzqi added that this message does not belong to Shias per se but to followers of all faiths and, indeed, to all humanity.

He said that the movement of Imam Hussein (AS), therefore, plays a role in proximity of followers of al faith and humanity in general.

The academic board member of the Islamic Sciences and Culture Research Center said the movement of Imam Hussein (AS) was in line with a great social objective, namely, adherence to the truth.

He stated that the world has been created based on the truth and that Islam invites to the truth.

The cleric noted that there are many Hadiths which introduce the Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) as the criteria for the truth, and that it can also be inferred from the verses of the Quran.

He said realizing the reality of Imam Hussein’s (AS) uprising, which is giving priority to the truth, could help bring humanity together.

Pointing to other messages and lessons of the Ashura uprising,  Hojat-ol-Islam Razzqi said that attaching importance to Taklif (religious obligation) and adhering to Welayat (leadership of the Wali) are among important lessons of Ashura for today’s life.

He said the importance of Taklif is seen in the conduct of all the Divine messengers and men of God. “For example, it was because of the importance of Taklif that Prophet Abraham (AS) decided to sacrifice his son to God.”

Hojat-ol-Islam Razzqi went on to say that Imam Hussein (AS), through his uprising, exposed the corruption of the Bani Ummayya.
