IQNA – The governor of Kafr el-Sheikh Governorate in Egypt said late qari Sheikh Abulainain Shuaisha was the best ambassador of the Quran and remains an honor for Egypt.

Late Egyptian qari Sheikh Abulainain Shuaisha in his youth.

Alaa Abdel Mu’ti, in a message on the occasion of the 103rd birth anniversary of the prominent qari, said that Sheikh Shuaisha was a source of pride for Egypt in his lifetime and continues to be a source of pride for the country, Al-Watan reported.

He is one of the symbols of Quran recitation that has remained immortal in history, he stated.

Sheikh Shuaisha was not just a reciter, but rather a school of recitation whose distinctive voice and humble performance took root in the hearts of Muslims all over the world, Abdel Mu’ti added.

He emphasized that Shuaisha does not belong only to Egypt, but rather he traveled to all countries of the world on behalf of Egypt and Islam, and by spreading the divine words via his pleasant voice, he was the best ambassador for the Quran.

Noting that Shuaisha was from Kafr el-Sheikh Governorate, he considered this a source of pride for the governorate and called on the new generations to take this famous Egyptian reciter as their role model.

Born on August 22, 1922, Abulainain Shuaisha spent his life in trying to revive genuine styles of recitation. He was described as an epical figure in Quran recitation and the owner of a ‘metal voice’.

He began recitation of Quran at an early age and soon entered Quranic circles attended by prominent qaris. Some have considered him to be an unrepeatable character in the field of Quran recitation.

Shuaisha had a genuine voice that was described as a “metal voice” because it was very strong and iron-like and had reverberation.

Many qaris try to imitate the recitation style of Master Shuaisha but no one can fully do it because his style and voice were unique and very difficult to imitate.

He, along with Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, was a co-founder of Egypt’s Union of Quran Reciters, and in 1988, he became the president of the union.
